Gastroscopy

An endoscopic method that visually examines the mucous membrane of the upper part of the digestive system, that is
esophagus, stomach and the beginning of the small intestine.

With the procedure, a thin, flexible tube is inserted through the mouth, which has a camera on its tip that takes pictures
projects on the monitor in the hall.

The method is not painful, but due to the unpleasant feeling, the patient is usually given sedatives or at least local ones
an anesthetic that is applied in a spray.

This examination directly diagnoses changes in the esophagus, stomach and duodenum.
We learn directly about the origin of bleeding from the upper digestive system, difficult swallowing and
painful swallowing, heartburn, flatulence, as well as stomach and duodenal ulcers.

The presence or absence of premalignant conditions is determined
such as Barrett's esophagus and Plummer-Vinson syndrome
but malignant conditions such as stomach and esophageal cancer. During
procedure, it is possible to take a sample of the mucosa or changes
tissue which is then sent for further adequate analyses. These
analyzes can prove the presence of Helicobacter pylori
infections, but also pathohistological changes in the mucosa of organs.

Colonoscopy

It represents the endoscopic method by which it is examined
the interior and lining of the large intestine. A flexible tube with a camera on the top is inserted through the anus
while the image is projected on the monitor in the hall. The procedure involves an examination of the entire colon and
if changes are detected, such as polyps, it can be removed and sent to the laboratory for further examination
pathohistological analysis.

After the analysis, a definitive diagnosis is obtained, i.e. whether the change is benign or malignant.
Colonoscopy usually lasts 25 to 45 minutes, it is not painful, but it can be uncomfortable for some patients, so
the patient is usually given an analgesic or a sedative.
